

About Montague School of Irish Dance
School History
The Montague School of Irish Dance was established in 2005 under the direction of Katie Montague, TCRG. Founded with only 10 students, the group has grown to over 30 children, including boys and girls of all ages. Dancers have performed at various events throughout the community and with well-known Irish music groups such as The Glengarry Bhoys, Greenwich Meantime, and West O'Clare.
About the Instructor
Katie Montague began her dancing career at the age of 7 under the instruction of Edward Murphy at the Penrose School of Irish Dance (which later became known as the Drumcliffe School of Irish Dance). She first qualified to compete in the World Championships at age 10 and went on to qualify for the next 10 years. She has won several championships throughout the United States and Canada and has a reputation as a very accomplished Irish dancer. After earning her TCRG (Irish Dance Teaching Certification) in 2002, Katie served as the director for Drumcliffe classes held in Binghamton, NY. She successfully assisted Drumcliffe Irish Arts with 5 seasons of concerts and preparation for Regional, National, and World competitions. In May 2005, Katie established the Montague School of Irish Dance in Cortland, NY. She holds her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester (2000) and completed her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at LeMoyne College in May 2005. Katie resides in Syracuse, NY and currently teaches for the Syracuse City School District.
